Download it, put it on your own server, and link it to your listing.

Host it yourself. This matters.

Do not hotlink the badge from reclaimourdata.org. If you did, every person who visited your website would silently send their IP address and the page they came from to our server, and we would become a third-party tracker sitting on every site in this directory. That is precisely the thing we exist to argue against, and we are not going to do it by accident.

So: save the file, serve it from your own domain, and point the link at your listing page. The listing is the canonical record. It is what a sceptical reader checks, and it is what shows a revocation if one ever happens.

Replace YOUR-APP with your listing’s slug, and /img/ with wherever you keep images. Both files are yours to serve.

The badge is free. Keeping it honest is not.

Nobody pays to take the pledge, and nobody ever will. A badge you can buy is a badge worth nothing.

But somebody has to run the directory, read the violation reports, and pay for servers we own rather than rent from the companies we are arguing with. That work is funded by the community: by the developers who carry this badge, and by the people who go looking for it.

Rules

• Use the badge only for software with a current, unrevoked listing.
• Do not alter the artwork, the wording, or the colours.
• Always link it to your listing, so a reader can verify the claim in one click.
• If your software stops meeting the pledge, take the badge down and tell us. We would rather record an honest withdrawal than a revocation.
